Will there be a Sci-Fi “Con Air” Sequel?

Con Air

Ah Con Air.  The most Michael Bay-esque movie that has nothing to do with Michael Bay.  When it comes to pre-Y2K action filmmaking, it's got everything you need: nonsensical plot, deranged villain, high-velocity confrontation, Nicolas Cage.  A true testament of the notion that "they don't make 'em like they used to."  Yes, it's a stupid movie, but if watching Con Air doesn't get you even a little excited, then there's a good chance you don't have a pulse.  I recommend going to doctor and getting … [Read more...]

Star Trek/TMNT Crossover Action Figures Were a Thing

TMNT/Star Trek Crossover

My wife came across a Buzzfeed article the other day about 18 Ridiculously Awful Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Action Figures.  She knows I'm a big TMNT fan--and I just so happen to be in the right age group to appreciate such atrocities--so naturally she had to share it with me.  I went through the list, picking through my brain trying to remember which ones I used to own before stupidly selling all of them during those awful "I'm too cool for toys" pre-teen phase.  Much to my amusement, I … [Read more...]

“Hot Tub Time Machine 2” Trailer Brings Paradox (NSFW)

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Time travel is awesome.  It's also ridiculous.  You know it, I know it, and the ragtag team of fools from Hot Tub Time Machine know it.  It was only a matter of--ahem--time before we got a sequel to the 2010 sci-fi comedy, and here's a red band trailer to prove it really exists.  And it's actually happening.  Or it's going to happen.  Or it already happened.  Whoa. Note: Red Band Trailer mean NSFW!  Proceed with caution.  Check it out after the break. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 Red Band … [Read more...]

spider-man

It looks like Peter Parker is getting a vacation .  According to Variety, Sony Pictures has announced that the third entry in the Amazing Spider-Man series has been pushed back to 2018.  This places the Marc Webb helmed franchise two years away from its original release date, with a previously announced fourth entry lost somewhere in the ether. Space Invaders Set to Blow Up a Movie Screen

Home made Space Invaders

Space Invaders is headed for the silver screen.  The Wrap reports that Warner Brothers has acquired the film rights to Taito's classic shoot-em-up arcade game, with Akiva Goldsman on board as a producer.  The cast, crew, and release date information have yet to be released. Video game-to-movie translations aren't uncommon, but unlike, say, Tomb Raider and Super Mario Bros, Space Invaders doesn't really have much in the way of a narrative.  It doesn't have any real characters to … [Read more...]
