“Hot Tub Time Machine 2” Trailer Brings Paradox (NSFW)

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Time travel is awesome.  It’s also ridiculous.  You know it, I know it, and the ragtag team of fools from Hot Tub Time Machine know it.  It was only a matter of–ahem–time before we got a sequel to the 2010 sci-fi comedy, and here’s a red band trailer to prove it really exists.  And it’s actually happening.  Or it’s going to happen.  Or it already happened.  Whoa.

Note: Red Band Trailer mean NSFW!  Proceed with caution.  Check it out after the break.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 will continue the adventures of the characters portrayed by Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke as they attempt to fix the damage caused by their preceding time travelling experience.  The original Hot Tub Time Machine was essentially a self-aware riff on the Back to the Future formula, and this sequel looks like it’s going to repeat that trend.  But instead of simply going back in time, the gang is going to be hopping into the future as well.  This trailer name-checks several existing sci-fi properties, like Terminator and Fringe, and brings up the possibility of alternate realities.  Chevy Chase will also be back as the mysterious hot tub repairman who knows more than he’s letting on.

Notably absent is John Cusack, who won’t be making an appearance in Hot Tub Time Machine 2.  Instead, we get Adam Scott, who is set to play the adult son of Cusack’s character.  Though better known as a television actor from shows like Party Down and Parks and Recreation, Scott has been dipping his toes into several feature films as of late.  His latest movie role had him playing Ben Stiller’s jerk boss in the 2013 comedy-drama The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 will be released on December 25th, 2014, with Steve Pink reprising directorial duties.
