28 Years Later

Continuity

Review

Fresh off his first rite, a young boy and his ailing mother cross virus-quarantined England, its structures and society long since collapsed and overrun by the feral infected, in search of a rumored doctor who may be able to help. Stylized bursts of action and sustained stretches of tension ground danger in routine, creating a sense of dread that feels lived-in rather than alien, while a genuinely powerful emotional core elevates stakes beyond the typical survival-horror fare. Ironically, that momentum stalls not in deference to the series’ past, but in a forward-looking gesture toward defining a new trilogy. Despite the occasional misstep into franchise scaffolding in place of organic world-building, this remains a masterclass in speculative terror, communicated with genuine humanity.
