O’Dessa

The seventh child of a wandering drifter’s line, burdened with being “the one,” heads to a dystopian city in search of adventure and love in a rock musical that has all the ingredients for a good time but never blends them well enough to produce anything appetizing. It has some good songs, but not enough of them, and the stretches between numbers feel like narrative dead air, stalling all momentum until the next song arrives to jump-start a pulse.
