Thunderbolts*

Synopsis

A group of antiheroes and reformed villains from across the MCU are recruited by the U.S. government to form an unconventional team tasked with covert missions.

Review

Thunderbolts* is a competent but uninspired MCU outing: slickly made, intermittently fun, but ultimately exhausting in its frustrations. It’s another casualty of Marvel’s television-era ambitions, with meaningful character growth locked behind Disney+ homework. It also stands as a prime example of the studio’s shift toward hyper-enmeshed serialized sprawl – good luck making sense of anything if you’re not caught up on your MCU lore.

On the brighter side, the ensemble cast crackles with chemistry. Too bad they’re let down by a story that speeds past emotional depth in favor of punchlines and pyrotechnics.
