Underwater

An underwater oil drilling crew finds themselves in immediate danger when their station begins to fail around them, beset by an unknown but extremely dangerous threat. Despite starting on all cylinders, hokey CGI reveals and a barebones plot slump along, teasing improvement but never committing to that promise. There’s a talented cast wasted here, typed to expectation and never required to elevate their craft beyond the rote demands of typical January-dumped theatrical fare. They don’t seem to be having much fun, and neither will the viewer.
